I am an adaptive, clear, and highly supportive Physics tutor

Advert description

My teaching philosophy is built on acting as a knowledgeable peer rather than a rigid lecturer. Physics can often feel intimidating to students due to its heavy abstraction and dense mathematical frameworks. By establishing a supportive, collaborative dialogue, I strip away that anxiety. I guide students through GCSE and A-Level curricula—including the mathematically rigorous A-Level Mechanics modules—by transforming complex equations into intuitive, physical realities. I firmly believe that equations should never be memorized in a vacuum. Before writing down a single formula, we anchor the concept in real-world scenarios. When introducing A-Level Mechanics, for example, we don't just state Newton’s laws or define a 'moment.' Instead, we discuss why it is easier to open a door by pushing the handle furthest from the hinge, or what physically happens to a car's momentum when braking on a wet road. Once a student possesses a strong physical intuition of the phenomenon, translating that understanding into mathematical symbols feels like a natural next step rather than an arbitrary chore. When faced with multi-step exam questions, students frequently experience 'blank page syndrome.' To combat this, I teach a highly structured, repeatable framework to deconstruct any problem into manageable phases: • Visualize: Constructing mandatory Free-Body Diagrams (FBDs) to map out every acting force, velocity vector, or component. • Isolate Variables: Cataloging known and unknown variables explicitly using the 'suvat' system for kinematics or energy variables for conservation laws. • Target Selection: Choosing the precise mathematical equation that bridges the knowns to the unknowns, reducing algebraic guesswork. Understanding physics is only half the battle; communicating that understanding to an examiner is the other. UK exam boards (AQA, OCR, Edexcel) are notoriously specific about where marks are awarded. I train students to think exactly like an examiner. We look directly at official mark schemes to understand the necessity of showing intermediate algebraic steps, stating explicit assumptions (e.g., 'ignoring air resistance'), and always providing correct SI units. This deliberate exam strategy ensures students secure every fractional method mark available, even if they make a minor arithmetic error at the very end. My approach adapts dynamically to the student's acad
