Biology tutor with 20 years of teaching experience. Specializes in making connections between the curriculum and the real world

I have a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from Yale. I specialize in making connections between the science curriculum and the real world in a meaningful way. I have spent the last 20 years blending hands-on, problem-based and project-based lessons with digital and online resources. I love helping students to find joy in learning, while broadening their understanding of the world around them. I have a proven track record of student success with a 98% passing rate on our Massachusetts Biology MCAS Standardized Assessment and the AP Biology test. I believe this recent quote by my Principal summarizes my teaching, “Jacob is the epitome of an exemplary educator. He is genuinely enthusiastic and passionate, and it is obvious that he loves teaching his content and loves his students. He works in tandem his counterpart science teacher and did not miss a beat upon starting at HRHS. This past fall he ran workshops for his colleagues to teach them the strategies and structures he uses in his own classroom. He always strives to do what is best for students and is a source of positivity and optimism throughout our school community.”
