Rie is a great tutor, she helped me get from a beginner Japanese level to intermediate/advanced with weekly conversation practice, grammar explanations, and patiently answering all my questions on areas I didn't understand. She is very encouraging and has plenty of learning materials for all levels to tailor lessons to each student's ability and goals. I highly recommend Rie.

During my work life, I lived in Japan as then CEO of an American Corporation. In that time I learned Japanese informally, eventually passing N4 (now N5 JLPT). Now in my 70's and 10+ years after using any Japanese, I decided to study structure and grammar as a good mind exercise. Rie quickly assessed my level and understood what I wanted to do. I have recovered my hiragana and katakana and am learning the grammar behind the language I picked up during many "Nomunication" session with my staff. Rie is great fun, flexible and adapts to my interests and needs. I really look forward to my one hour a week Teams call. I highly recommend her as a tutor.

I have been having lessons with Rie-san for the past three years, starting as an absolute beginner. I am now studying for JLPT N3, and I genuinely could not have got this far without her. Rie is a warm, kind and incredibly encouraging teacher. She is clearly passionate about teaching and genuinely enjoys working with people. She always looks for ways to make things work, adapting her approach to the individual needs, abilities and learning styles of her pupils. She is highly adept with technology, has an impeccable knowledge of all the major Japanese textbooks, and is amazing at keeping track of her pupils’ progress. She is always thoroughly prepared for lessons and unfailingly punctual. When life inevitably gets in the way of scheduled sessions, Rie goes out of her way to accommodate her pupils (something parents during the school holidays will particularly appreciate!) Learning Japanese is a long journey (at least it is for me!), and I honestly cannot imagine a better tea

I have been taking Japanese language lessons with Rie-San for about a year now and have thoroughly enjoyed each one! Rie-San is very kind and sympathetic and provides lessons which are well-organised and tailored to my goals (for me currently is JLPT N4) as well as offering a wealth of cultural insights to pique my interest! I feel comfortable about asking general questions about life and culture in Japan as well as bringing any language-specific questions I have from my private study to discuss. Rie-San offers context and well-practiced explanations that have helped in recalling vocabulary as well as general rules around sentence structure and word order. I am happy with the progress I am making and highly recommend Rie-San for Japanese language tuition.
