My name is Katherine Rodriguez and I am an experienced Academic Skills Tutor. If you're not sure what that means, here is a list of the sort of things I can help you with: - First Class and Distinction Essay Writing - Scientific and Business Report Writing - Traditional and Systematic Literature Reviews - Dissertation Planning, Execution and Writing - Time Management, Goal Setting and Study Habits - Learning with English as a Second Language - Learning with Severe Anxiety or Mental Health difficulties - Referencing (Harvard, OSCOLA, APA, MHRA) - Advanced Research Skills - Academic Career Planning My lessons range from 30 minutes to 2 hours (with breaks). I am enthusiastic, friendly, organised and empathetic. My approach to teaching is a combination of the Socratic method with organisational and time management techniques to make even the most difficult assignment or subject into an achievable and exciting goal. My belief is that everyone can enjoy learning and everyone can improve their skills with the right plan and approach. I intend to teach my students the skills that will help them succeed not just in academia but in life as a whole. I hope to help a life-long learning habit that will mean freedom and flexibility for my students even beyond their current academic journey. I already have two cohorts of students who have gone onto industry at high paying roles or onto postgraduate and postdoctoral studies in Russell Group universities. About me: I am a Durham University graduate as well as an Open University graduate. I was an international student and went through the difficult experience of learning how to live in the UK at the same time as learning my subjects in my second language (English). I have studied a PGDip in Combined Honours in Philosophy, Religious Studies and Classics as well as a BA in Arts and Humanities (Philosophy and Classics). I have been an Academic Skills Tutor at Nottingham Trent University for over a year and have outstanding feedback from students and a long list of graduates with distinctions. I specialise on helping international students and students with severe anxiety who are passionate about their subject and want to achieve their dreams but would like support in overcoming barriers beyond their control.
