I recently graduated with a 2:1 in English Literature at the University of Sheffield, a leading Russell Group university. Over the years I have worked with young people completing their GCSEs and A-Levels, and am proud to say the lowest grade a student of mine has achieved in either was a 7 and an A. It is not the grades I am most proud of though. What I am truly proud of, is the fact that all my past students have gone on to tell me of their renewed passion for reading, after having worked with me. I always encourage my students to see Literature not just as some academic box which requires ticking, but as a lifelong companion which, if given the right attention, can reward you with skills and perspectives that will enrich your entire life.
