I give private lessons in Philosophy, English Language and Literature, and English as a Second/Foreign Language.

My teaching is both online/remote, or face-to-face, or a combination of these. I am well qualified and experienced both academically and in teaching in my subject areas, and I can teach people of any age or background (except very young children). My lessons are personalised to the needs and wishes of each individual or group - and my basic principle is based on the combined ideas of respect and partnership. Teaching always needs to be taken seriously, but importantly it should be enjoyable - even philosophy can be a lot of fun, although it often makes your brain hurt! My charge rate is variable according to circumstances in every case - and is often negotiable. The £25 per hour shown in my general profile is intended only as a general guideline, since for instance preparing a learner for formal exams is far more demanding on time than teaching for general interest in a subject. Which is not to say that I take one kind less seriously than another. Quite the opposite is true. Try it, or something else I teach. I will simply be pleased to meet you and start a journey together.
