I have been working in Education for 21 years with a focus on English, Functional Skills, Media and Art Theory. and Special Educational Needs. I am currently a full time Psychology degree student-GCSE GRADES-English Language GCSE Grade A English Speaking and Listening GCSE Grade A* English Literature GCSE Grade A BA Hons in Media Productions Grade Upper Second MA in Experimental Film Post Graduate Certificate in Education Level 3 SEN Teaching Assistant BSc (Hons) Psychology (pending completion) Current/past private clients: SEN Media Studies Degree student Casual English Speaking Adult learners Professional English Speaking Adult learners In these years I have worked in a wide variety of settings. These include: nurseries primary and secondary schools, colleges and universities both private and mainstream, specialist schools and colleges for learners with a range of learning difficulties and needs. As an experienced teacher, my approach is one of nurturing the student. From Day 1 my focus will be on developing a good rapport with the learner, taking the time to get to know them and likewise allow them to get to know me. Their learning experience will be more organic, with lively discussions around the topic which I enjoy relating to their own personal passions to aid their understanding. My approach is holistic, recognising the potential for psychological hurdles and thus seeing the child first before their learning, building up their confidence first, upon which then learning can then happen. After every session, I send a short report to parents summarising the session to aid family discussions.

My parents found Emma on this site because I was really struggling to engage with my English when I was in year 9. Reading blood brothers was hard and boring but talking about it with her made it more interesting and we would laugh about it too. She would bring up interesting points and refer to YouTube videos people had made which sometimes were funny which helped as well. My dad liked the report she wrote to him afterwards. I am going to stick with her for year 10 for my GCSE English prep.

I have been with Emma for a few months learning English pronunciation as I am from Bulgaria. She did some good research and helped me realise the areas I needed to focus on. She is always on time, sends me summaries of what we have done in the session , and sends me plans for the coming session.

Emma was extremely helpful in my passing my GCSE English with a grade 5. She helped me realise that my handwriting was causing me to run out of time in the exam and gave me some strategies to help with this. She also helped me break down questions and developed my understanding of how to plan before I write. She is very friendly and easy to talk to, and is very patient. She would write a short report for my mum after every session which was helpful too.
