ContactPatient UCL Chemistry student tutoring since 2021, helping KS3–GCSE Maths students build confidence and exam skills.
Advert description
I've been tutoring Maths since 2021, working with KS3 and GCSE students both through an agency and privately, so I have a good feel for the different ways students get stuck - some struggle with a specific topic, others lose confidence more generally after falling behind. I always start by figuring out exactly where a student's understanding breaks down, rather than assuming, and build from there using examples and methods that make sense to them specifically, not just the textbook explanation.
I keep lessons structured but responsive - working through past paper questions where useful, but adjusting pace constantly based on what I'm hearing back from the student. I explain concepts clearly and patiently, and I make a point of checking understanding rather than just moving on, so nothing gets missed. My own experience staying close to Maths through further study means I can also show students how these skills connect to bigger goals, not just the next exam.
Above all, I want students to leave lessons feeling more confident than when they started, not just more informed - confidence is usually what's actually missing.
