♜ Online Chess Lessons. All leves and ages. FIDE Trainer ♘

Advert description

After 22 years of teaching chess to people of all ages and skill levels, I've distilled the key to chess improvement into three fundamental pillars: Train, Analyze, and Play (TAP). These pillars form the foundation of my lessons. However, beyond this structured approach lies the most important element: personalization. My classes are always tailored to your unique needs, with the content, pace, methods, and materials adapted to your individual skills and chess goals. The lessons are both challenging and entertaining, and you will need to find creative solutions to different scenarios. Depending on your level and goals, we will cover a wide range of topics: pattern recognition, calculation, theoretical endgames, positional play, defense, pawn structures, planning, blindfold training, visualization, swindles, and more. We will also cover more specific topics, such as time management, building an opening repertoire, the practical use of artistic problems, making the best use of chess engines and databases, and the psychological aspects of decision-making. Key elements of my lessons • Personalized homework: After each lesson, I send homework related to what we've studied, including puzzles, games, multiple-choice tests, videos, books, databases, and more. • Exercises and training systems I design myself: I design and curate a wide variety of exercises and training systems, adapted to different skills and aspects of the game. For example, this can include finding the best practical decision in a position, even when it is not the engine's top choice, but the move that creates the greatest practical problems for your opponent. Other exercises simulate more realistic game situations, where you don't know beforehand whether a winning sequence actually exists, and the goal is to determine whether there is something concrete in the position. • Constant contact: You can always reach out to me with questions, ideas, or positions you'd like to discuss, even outside lesson time. My main goal isn’t just to help my students improve their skills, but also to ensure they enjoy the process. Each lesson must be rich in content, challenging, and fun—all at once. You can try a first 30-minute lesson free of charge! Then, if you like the content and approach, we can build a training plan and start working on it on a regular basis. Let's learn chess together!!

Matias is a fantastic coach. He has a great eye for catching my mistakes and is great at pushing me beyond my comfort zone. He makes me do the hard things and it has been paying off. I've been able to defeat 2 players 200~300 elo higher than me and I attribute that to my work with Matias. He provides homework after every session and tailors each session to what he feels like I need to work on the most. He is patient and easy to work with. If you are looking for someone to give you structured lessons in a way that's challenging but rewarding, then look no further.

I wasn't sure about getting a chess coach at first (Will I actually improve? Is my rating high enough? Am I too old for this?), but my experience with Matías has been fantastic. He is very friendly and passionate about chess and he was quick to evaluate my current level, even taking the time to review a few of my games before the first meeting. The lessons are interactive: we solve puzzles, practice calculation, review master-level games, and learn positional concepts. He is very patient, even when I'm taking a long time to understand a position. Most impressive is the amount of work Matías puts into preparing lessons beforehand and preparing resources/exercises to work on in-between lessons. He has a great understanding of what'll be the most valuable use of your time based on your own personal goals. In just a few weeks, I went from feeling completely hardstuck in my chess progression, to feeling spoiled for choice in ways I can continue to improve my game. Huge recommend!

I’ve improved so much already learning with Matías! He’s a great tutor and has helped me to get a much better understanding - I have gained 300 rating points since starting with him before Christmas.
