Italian journalist and writer who teaches Italian through movies, literature, songs, food and pop culture

I am an Italian journalist and writer based in London with a lifelong passion for language, storytelling, and cultural exchange. Over the years, I have cultivated a career that bridges communication, education, and creativity, and today I bring that same passion into my work as an Italian tutor. My approach to teaching goes far beyond grammar and vocabulary: I believe that the best way to learn a language is to immerse yourself in the culture that shapes it. That is why my lessons are enriched with movies, literature, songs, and pop culture — the living expressions of Italy’s identity. Cinema becomes an opportunity to explore authentic dialogues, regional accents, and contemporary themes. Through films by directors such as Fellini, Sorrentino, or Ozpetek, students not only improve their listening comprehension but also gain valuable insights into Italian society and history. Literature opens another window: from Dante to Elena Ferrante, reading together sharpens vocabulary and sparks meaningful discussions about style, meaning, and cultural context. Music and popular songs add rhythm and emotion to the learning process — they are excellent tools for memorising structures and discovering how Italians use language in daily life. Finally, pop culture keeps everything fresh and accessible: TV shows, current events, and even social media trends provide learners with real-life language that they can immediately use. As a journalist, I understand the importance of clear and precise communication. As a writer, I know the power of narrative to inspire curiosity. As a tutor, I combine both of these skills to create lessons that are dynamic, enjoyable, and highly personalised. I work with learners of all levels — from beginners who want to take their first steps in Italian to advanced students eager to refine their fluency. Each session is tailored to individual goals, whether it is conversational practice, academic support, or professional advancement. Above all, I want my students to feel the joy of discovering a new world through language. Italian is not just a subject to be studied; it is a living culture to be experienced and immersed in. My mission is to guide learners on that journey, giving them the tools to speak with confidence and the cultural knowledge to connect with people truly.
