It was through the experience of teaching students between ages 3 and 18, that I understood the importance of a unique approach. By building on each individual's strengths, I could help students find methods of studying that best helped them. Perseverance and patience were also important qualities I refined in this 3 year period, which was especially appreciated whilst working with children with special educational needs. Oftentimes, I found myself explaining the same point in multiple different ways to ensure understanding. If verbal explanations weren’t sufficient, I tried different methods, such as using drawings, graphs, or known examples. Additionally, whilst preparing for my own A Levels, I enrolled in a tutoring programme at my school, where I worked one-to-one with a GCSE student and helped them progress with their revision. I attempted to use my own experience to teach about mark schemes and build on the general understanding of the topic. Tutoring reinforced the importance of active recall and building on their knowledge using examples they are familiar with.
