Experienced Teacher of Science from 11 to 18
Advert description
I am working as a Lecturer of Physics & Chemistry at the Capital City College. I have been teaching and tutoring for 14 years in secondary schools and FE colleges.
I help students to develop a passion for science, to excel and continue to study the subject in higher education.
I have qualified for NPQSL from UCL in April 2024. In addition to NPQML (2018), I also have QTS and QTLS. Along with an Honours degree in Chemistry with Physics & Mathematics and a further degree in Biochemical Engineering, I also have an MBA and PGCE. I have also completed a Maths SKE from the Institute of Education.
In my current role as a Lecturer in Physics & Chemistry at the Capital City College, I am teaching Chemistry to A level and Physics to BTEC Applied Science cohorts. I also teach BTEC National Diploma in Engineering along with GCSE Combined and Separate Sciences.
In my previous role as Head of Science at Acland Burghley, I line managed 10 teachers and 2 technicians. I was responsible for management, organisation and co-ordination of teaching of 3 science subjects from Y7 to Y13. I was teaching AQA Chemistry to A- level students and the Applied Science BTEC Level 3 students. I taught AQA science to mix ability sets from Year 7 to Year 10. I also taught an AQA Combined science trilogy set and a Separate science Physics set in Year 11. I was also the tutor of a Year 12 cohort. I guided my tutees in writing their personal statements for UCAS application and wrote their references. Acland Burghley School is a part of the LaSWAP 6th form consortium. I was the lead internal verifier (IV) for BTEC.
I was a part of the team responsible for bridging the gap in Progress 8 scores between Pupil Premium (PP) and non PP in GCSE Combined Science.
I am always fascinated by STEM and hence I have decided to become a science teacher with the aim to generate interest among students to pursue a science-based career. I am a committed and an enthusiastic individual who appreciates that science is not every student's favourite subject. However I strive to make individual topics interesting and stress the relevance of science to everyday life. I am reluctant to accept underachievement and strive hard to achieve outstanding results, set high expectations for myself and my students. I will help you to achieve your goals in terms of achieving outstanding results in GCSE and A level.
