Award-winning former lecturer of Economics at Oxford University, London School of Economics, and Sciences Po

Advert description

I am an economist and lecturer with nearly a decade of teaching experience at some of Europe’s most prestigious universities, including the University of Oxford, the London School of Economics, and Sciences Po. My teaching and research span economics, econometrics, behavioural science, and development economics, and I have consistently been recognised for both academic excellence and outstanding teaching performance. I previously served as a full-time lecturer at the University of Oxford (2018–2020) and have taught across Oxford, LSE, and Sciences Po since 2016. My roles have included Stipendiary Lecturer in Economics at St Edmund Hall (Oxford), Class Teacher in the LSE Economics Department, and instructor for a graduate econometrics course within Oxford’s History Faculty. Across these positions, I have helped students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels master complex material in microeconomics, econometrics, and applied research methods. My academic journey has been shaped by sustained excellence. I was awarded a competitive, performance-based full scholarship to pursue my MPhil and DPhil in Economics at the University of Oxford, where I completed my PhD in 2018 on the relationship between social comparisons and ethical behaviour. Prior to Oxford, I achieved the best overall exam performance in my cohort at Durham University and received the prize for the best undergraduate dissertation, scoring 93/100. Throughout my teaching career, I have received multiple commendations, including bonuses for outstanding teaching at LSE and exceptionally positive feedback for my MSc econometrics lectures at Oxford. My approach combines rigorous analytical training with clear, intuitive explanation, helping students build both confidence and technical mastery in economics and econometrics. Modules that I have either taught or am happy to teach by year: LSE: 1st Year Courses: - EC1A1 Microeconomics I. - ST109 Elementary Statistical Theory. - EC1C1 - Econometrics I. - MA108 Methods in Calculus and Linear Algebra. - EC1B1 Macroeconomics I. 2nd Year Courses: - EC2A1 Microeconomics II. - EC2B1 Macroeconomics II. - EC2C1 Economics II. 3rd Year Courses: - EC317 Labour Economics - EC313 Industrial Economics - EC334 Advanced Macroeconomics - EC336 / EC337 Econometric Theory A/B - EC338 International Trade

I have had the pleasure of getting to know Dr. Alexis over the past 2 years now, he is by far one of the most intelligent, kind, and caring educators that I know. He has a genuine passion for teaching and can explain the most complex of concepts in a concise manner. I find this one of the many standout features of his teaching, which lends itself extremely useful within university level tuition.
