Fully qualified teacher currently teaching in a UK School

rom my considerable experience over the years I have discovered that arguing with an individual, whether they are staff or a learner, will not resolve anything. I believe that in order for one to derive behavioural change, it must come from within the individual. Therefore I prefer to use motivational dialogue techniques when disciplining an individual, where they can see for themselves what changes are necessary for them to reach their optimum. However I have used assertive discipline when required as well. Many of the learners I have worked with have had challenging behaviours and I have done good work with them in calming them down and setting SMART targets for gradual behavioural change. I have also mentored staff through difficult situations.
