Phonics, early reading, comprehension and advanced reading

Expert One-to-One Online Tuition in Phonics, Reading & Comprehension Helping children become confident, fluent and thoughtful readers through highly personalised one-to-one online tuition. As a qualified UK primary teacher with extensive KS1 and KS2 classroom experience, I provide carefully tailored tuition for children who need to strengthen their reading foundations, build confidence, deepen their comprehension or prepare for important assessments. I specialise in: * Phonics & Early Reading – developing secure decoding, blending and word-reading skills * Reading Fluency & Accuracy – building pace, expression, confidence and reading stamina * Reading Comprehension – developing retrieval, sequencing, summarising and understanding * Advanced Reading Skills – strengthening inference, vocabulary, authorial intent and critical thinking * Assessment Preparation – targeted preparation for 4+, 7+, 11+ and SATs, including reading strategies and exam technique A personalised approach to every child No two children learn to read in exactly the same way. I therefore begin by identifying your child’s current strengths, gaps and learning needs, before carefully adapting each lesson to provide the right balance of support, challenge and progression. Lessons are structured, purposeful and engaging, with a clear focus on helping children understand not only what an answer is, but how and why they arrived at it. Children learn to: * approach unfamiliar texts with confidence * use effective strategies when they encounter difficult words or questions * explain and justify their answers clearly * identify evidence within a text * make meaningful inferences and connections * develop richer vocabulary and deeper understanding * become increasingly independent in their reading High expectations, without pressure My teaching style is warm, calm and encouraging, while maintaining high academic expectations. I create a supportive environment where children feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions and sharing their ideas. At the same time, I challenge pupils appropriately so that every lesson contributes to genuine academic progress. Rather than simply working through questions, I focus on developing the underlying skills that enable children to become independent, resilient and capable readers. Clear progress
