I always start by finding out where a student actually is, not where their year group says they should be. From there we work through the gaps step by step, using past papers, practice questions and plenty of worked examples. I keep lessons relaxed, because students learn best when they're comfortable enough to say "I don't get it". I set small bits of homework between sessions and track progress properly, so both the student and parents can see the improvement. My aim is simple: get them understanding the method rather than memorising it, so they walk into their exam feeling ready.
