GCSEs, English For Foreigners - Lover of literature and crazy cross-disciplinary connections; today I learned that pigeons can diagnose breast cancer!

I have 20 years of experience teaching English to children and adults, both in person and online. I always try to connect with the students' interests to make language a pleasure, rather than a chore. Having studied four different languages myself, I know how teachers can help and hinder learning. Finding interesting things to read and talk about is key. I emphasize creative approaches over rote learning, but if we have to focus on basics like spelling and grammar, then we will. For older students looking to improve GCSE scores, we focus on text analysis and writing to learn how to defend a thesis and hit the scoring criteria for an improved grade.
