Creative piano coaching

I’ve played the piano since I was a young child and have three grade 8 qualifications (jazz piano, music theory and flute). I also have a first class degree from Oxford university and know how to learn quickly and effectively. For the past 4 years, I have been tutoring alongside another job because I love helping people learn and reach their potential. I am particularly passionate about working with adults taking up piano for the first time or after a break and believe that everyone should always have something that they are learning, working on, improving, throughout their entire life. Piano is such a beautiful example of this because it challenges so many different physical and cognitive systems - picking up new movements and rhythms, juggling different notes at the same time, memorising new songs, and perhaps even understanding the logic behind harmony at a deeper level. More importantly, it’s really fun, if you take the right approach. I try to make lessons as focused as possible on the music you enjoy listening to, turn ‘practising’ into ‘playing’ and help you to be as creative as possible. My online setup: I use two cameras during lessons to make sure students can see my piano. If you have a small side table for your laptop / phone next to your piano, this this allows me to see your hands in the picture. Not to worry if not though; I’ll be able to hear what you are playing anyway and that’s the most important thing. Please note, it is very helpful if you are able to turn on ‘original sound for musicians’ in zoom audio settings. I’m happy to talk you through this at the start if the first lesson and extend the first lesson by 5 minutes if you’d like help with this.
