Inspiring and equipping young people to learn well, through coaching

What I am most excited about when coaching young people as they study is seeing them light up as they realise that they have the potential to learn effectively and enjoy the challenges of studying. My mission is for each student to feel uplifted and inspired. Coaching conversations are effective because there is a purpose to them. I listen very well and I notice - and will ask questions that are designed to really open up the thinking that my students have. As an example, a student might say "I hate this subject" or "this is so hard" ... and I would be curious to know as to what they are telling themselves about the subject; what is their 'story' about learning - and then go onto the interesting part of the coaching session - "what if this learning was fun for you and interesting - how would you be showing up for yourself then?; "how does somebody who finds this learning really good fun approach the subject". Every coaching conversation is different and every student has their own way of learning. I am ambitious for them because I know that this time of learning can be intensely satisfying; opens doors to new chapters; and, because the work really matters. I keep myself updated on various learning skills; I will always want to know about well being and habits to ensure good learning (good sleep; nourishing food; sport and getting outside; hobbies; and, supportive friendships). I always aim for my students to feel optimistic and pleased with their work. I am easy for young people to get along with and my coaching conversations are fun and interesting. Also, everything that I teach is valuable for life. I am a qualified coach through Barefoot Coaching and Coaching Development. Both are ICF accredited organisations. I read voraciously, keeping up to date with the latest thinking around well being; neuro science and our mind. I am very experienced in working with young people. I invigilate GCSE and A'Level exams and so am familiar with what students go through during exams. I have also raised three children and understand the demands that come from school and university life. My coaching sessions are uplifting, fun and motivating.
