Oxford PPE Graduate teaching A Level Economics, with 10+ students admitted to Oxford or Cambridge for economics-related courses

I first started teaching economics while I was in Sixth Form, helping other students after school during a difficult teacher transition when our class had fallen behind. I went on to achieve an A* in A Level Economics, alongside A*s in Maths, Politics and History, as well as full marks in an EPQ on a topic combining politics and economics. I then went on to study economics as part of Oxford’s Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) degree, where I had the time of my life! I particularly enjoyed the economics side of the course and love learning, teaching and talking about the subject. I have also worked with many successful applicants to Oxford and Cambridge for economics-related courses, including mature students and reapplicants. These include: Oxford PPE: 5 offers Oxford Economics and Management: 2 offers Cambridge Economics: 6 offers In my lessons, I focus on the following three things: 1. Building up my students’ knowledge and understanding of economics. We work together on an online whiteboard to break down diagrams, maths and difficult concepts in an interactive way. I want my students to understand the ideas properly and be able to explain them confidently in their own words. 2. Teaching my students how to turn that knowledge into marks. We work through specifications, past-paper questions and mark schemes to understand exactly what each exam board is looking for. I help students interpret questions, plan essays, apply economic theory and tackle unseen questions effectively. 3. Showing my students how to revise economics properly. Effective learning is active, not passive. I help students develop practical revision methods that allow them to remember content, retrieve it under exam conditions and apply it to unfamiliar questions. At the end of each lesson, my students receive a lesson pack containing the work we completed together, giving them a useful resource to revisit afterwards.
