Learn German with native speaker and experienced tutor!

My wife and I wanted to really learn German beyond the web courses and books. We found Marlene and have been with her for over two years now, and we've both seen so much progress over that time. A huge bonus of having Marlene as a tutor is learning about the cultural side of Germany and the little things they say or do that aren't in any textbook. It gives much more context to what we're learning and has been fascinating! I can't say enough good things about her and her tutoring.

Without a doubt Marlene has improved my German; both my vocabulary and more importantly the grammar. My confidence in speaking German has increased enormously. She is a very patient teacher (I am sure she has told me the same thing 1000 times and still I get it wrong, and she never expresses frustration or impatience) and she pitches each class to address specific areas needing improvement. Via Zoom, we work through a text book, do exercises, watch videos and listen to the spoken word. Every week I also do homework, often suggest grammatical exercises to boost my understanding, the results of which we work through together which improves my vocab and grammar. The Zoom lessons are great. I don't feel like I am missing out not having face-to-face contact, the lessons are conducted as if we were sitting together and I don't need to travel anywhere for the class. I have no hesitation in recommending Marlene, regardless of your level, expertise or confidence.

Marlene has been my German language teacher for around three years. She is a talented teacher, patient, inspiring, and insightful. She has helped me progress from a non speaker to level B1. I recommend Marlene in the strongest and best terms. Paul H

Marlene is a very talented and enthusiastic teacher. She has a great teaching style which she readily adapts to the needs of her students. As a native German speaker with a passion for languages, Marlene can help with all facets of language learning - from vocabulary and grammar to spelling and pronunciation. I highly recommend Marlene as a tutor !

Marlene has been really good at tailoring our lessons to what I need and gradually building in things that I didn't know I needed. My focus has been on building vocabulary to improve my reading comprehension and she has been really helpful with not just strategies for this but also ways to improve my grammar while I learn vocab. The exercises she set were suited to my level and she gave really useful feedback. She also gave me a lot of extra resources and showed me where I could find more. Overall: Marlene was easy-going and friendly, flexible with our schedule, quickly grasped my level and could explain things in the target language in a way that I could understand. A real professional but a real person too! Thanks Marlene!

Marlene is friendly, patient, organised and an excellent tutor.
