English language and literature tutor, up to GCSE level

Advert description

I have a first class degree in English Language and Linguistics from the University of Warwick, I achieved a grade 7 in World Literature on the International Baccalaureate, and a grade A in my Literature Extended Essay (I can explain all of that if you aren't familiar with the IB!). My dyslexia meant that I often struggled with dense texts or writing extended essays, but I have learned how to overcome such obstacles and enjoy the study of literature. I have experience in tutoring Shakespeare (Othello, The Tempest, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol), An Inspector Calls, Great Expectations, Frankenstein, Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, and a wide variety of poetry. Please do get in touch if you are tackling other texts, as I am also familiar with many not listed here. I am experienced in tutoring individuals with additional learning needs (including dyslexia, ADHD, and autism) and I am happy to develop a learning program which works best for you. Please get in touch and we can discuss the details! :)

Ellie is an excellent tutor and really helped my daughter improve her grades for her GCSEs. Ellie had a very organised approach and was also happy to be flexible to what my daughter needed week to week. My daughter really appreciated Ellie's calm and patient manner and her way of explaining concepts in a way she could understand. I have no hesitation in recommending Ellie as a tutor.

Ellie is just amazing. Since Ellie became my daughters tutor, I saw her confidence grow. Ellie used techniques my daughter could easily remember and use for her revision. Ellie would plan lessons on what my daughter found difficult and would recap to make sure she understood. I would definitely recommend Ellie and will keep her number for when my other daughter is doing her GCSE'S. Thankyou Ellie so much you made such a difference in a short space of time.
