I have recently graduated from the University of Oxford with a BA in History, and my passion for the subject is as alive as ever. If history at A Level or even GCSE was just about spitting out sets of memorised facts then things would be much simpler. But in reality, history is just as much about ideas based on the facts, and about having opinions on those ideas. That is why interactive discussion around your understanding of historical processes and periods, with a knowledgeable person, is so crucial for academic success; this method is at the heart of my tutoring style. Of course, being able to communicate and present your ideas clearly is also important, and so essay writing techniques are also part of my lessons. My lesson plans are always varied according to each student’s needs, whether that involves content discussion, essay writing practice, or going through exams questions. My specialties include (but not exclusive to) the history of Britain (any period), medieval Europe, the Middle East, the Ottoman Empire, Revolutionary France and Japan.
