UX designer and teacher, from beginners to portfolio-ready
Advert description
I am a UX and UI designer with an MSc in User Experience Design from Loughborough University, and I spent seven years teaching design before moving into it full time. That combination is why I tutor. I know the work because I do it, and I know how to explain it because I did that for seven years.
I can start wherever you are. For beginners that usually means layout, typography and colour, getting comfortable in Figma, and learning how to read a brief. Further along it is user interviews, usability testing, information architecture, user flows and interaction design. For people getting close to applying for roles or courses, it is design systems, accessibility, and the part most people find hardest, which is turning a project into a case study that argues for your decisions instead of just showing screens.
I have tutored one to one on product and interaction design portfolios before, and I am a career changer myself, so if you are moving into design from another field, that is a route I have actually walked rather than only read about.
Sessions are built around what you are working on. Bring your own project if you have one, and if you do not, we will start one.
