If your child is studying GCSE or A-Level Spanish, you want to know that they are receiving clear, structured support from someone who understands both the subject and the exam. I am a qualified and experienced Spanish teacher specialising in GCSE and A-Level tuition. My aim is to help students improve their confidence, strengthen their Spanish and achieve the best possible exam results. I hold a BA (Hons) in French and Spanish, a PGCE in Modern Foreign Languages, Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), a Master’s degree in Spanish Language Teaching and a CELTA qualification. I have taught Spanish in schools and online and have worked with students across a wide range of abilities. I also have experience as an examiner for major UK examination boards, including AQA, Pearson Edexcel and CCEA. This means I understand what examiners are looking for, the mistakes students commonly make and the techniques that can help them gain more marks. Every student has different strengths and areas for improvement. Some need help filling gaps in grammar or vocabulary, while others are already achieving strong grades and want the extra support needed to reach the highest levels. I tailor each lesson to the individual student rather than following a one-size-fits-all programme. A major focus of my teaching is confidence. Students often understand more Spanish than they are able to demonstrate in an exam, particularly in speaking and writing. Through regular conversation practice, targeted grammar work, vocabulary development and exam-style activities, I help students become more accurate, fluent and confident. I am also a qualified DELE examiner for levels A1–B2 and hold the DELE C1 qualification, giving me additional expertise in language assessment and progression. As a parent, you can expect clear communication about your child’s progress, areas that need attention and what we are working towards. I also provide additional practice where appropriate so that students can continue developing between lessons. Ultimately, my goal is not simply to help students get through their Spanish exam. I want them to understand how to improve, feel confident using the language and reach a level that genuinely reflects their ability.

As a language teacher myself I can say that I learned a lot from Matt. He was engaging, interactive, the lesson was well structured and he kept it moving, plus it was always relevant. He gave me plenty of speaking time, as a total beginner I found that great and at the end he went over my mistakes and made sure I was satisfied with the pronunciation which is very important in the beginning. He also made me seem at home and confident using the language. Looking forward to the next lesson and as a language teacher I can highly recommend Matt!

Hoy voy a escribir en español mi comentario para que todos aquellos que este buscando un profesor de ingles se apunten con Matt. Desde hace tiempo llevo dando tumbos de un profesor a otro y ninguno conseguía despertar en mi las ganas por continuar con la difícil tarea de aprender un idioma, me sentía frustrada y desanimada, incapaz de superar mi objetivo sin alguien que me guiara con un buen método y pasión por enseñar, pero encontré a Matt y junto a él he podido volver a sentirme animada y con ganas de aprender y sobre todo progresar, es muy fácil quedarse estancado en un nivel y no avanzar, y muchas veces tirar la toalla, pero ahora se que puedo y con la ayuda y preparación de Matt se que lo conseguiré. Si alguien esta en mi situación no dude en apuntarse a sus clases, sin duda os ayudará. Gracias Matt!! (prometo no volver a escribir en español, sorry) :)'

I think this was one of my favourite lessons. Not only was a I talking about food and wine which I love, but I think that it's also made me feel more confident in being able to do so when I go go Spain next month.
