Experienced English functional skills tutor, adapting delivery to meet your needs and learning style

My lessons are structured, supportive and tailored to your individual goals. I teach Functional Skills English from Entry Level to Level 2, helping learners build both skills and confidence at a pace that works for them. Each session begins with a clear objective so you know exactly what we’re working towards. I usually start with a short recap or warm-up to reinforce previous learning, then introduce the focus topic using clear explanations and practical, real-life examples. I break skills down into manageable steps to make learning feel achievable and less overwhelming. Lessons are interactive rather than lecture-style. We complete guided practice together before moving on to independent tasks, so you can apply what you’ve learned while still feeling supported. I use regular questioning and quick formative assessment to check understanding and adapt the session where needed. For learners preparing for exams, I place strong emphasis on exam technique, including timing, structuring responses and understanding what examiners are looking for. Above all, my sessions are calm, friendly and judgement-free. I know many learners come to English feeling unsure, so building confidence is just as important as building knowledge. You’ll leave each lesson knowing what you’ve improved and what your next steps are.
